Our Islands Our Home
Protect our island homes. Protect our culture. Protect our future.
Zenadth Kes is our home.
It is home to hundreds of islands, vibrant cultures, diverse languages, and thousands of years of knowledge and connection to land, sea and sky.
For countless generations, Torres Strait Islanders have cared for our island homes and sea country. This responsibility has always been passed from one generation to the next. Caring for country is not only what we do, it is part of who we are.
Today, our island homes are on the frontlines of the climate crisis.
Driven by the continued expansion of coal, oil and gas, climate change is already reshaping our islands. Rising seas are eroding our coastlines, saltwater intrusion is contaminating freshwater sources, and culturally significant places, including ancestral burial grounds, are increasingly under threat.
Protecting our island homes means protecting thousands of years of culture, knowledge and connection.
Our Islands Our Home is a Torres Strait Islander-led climate justice campaign working to protect our island homes and build a future where our communities, cultures and Country continue to thrive. We believe the people most affected by climate change must be at the centre of the solutions, and that lasting climate action must be grounded in First Nations leadership, justice and care for country.
Together, we are building a growing movement of people supporting Torres Strait Islanders to protect what matters most.
Join us in supporting Torres Strait Islanders. Together, we can protect our island homes, our cultures and our shared future.
