Dear Premier
Our energy market in South Australia is in crisis.
Since the Electricity Trust of South Australia (ETSA) was privatised in 1999, households have been paying more for electricity prices, whereas when the system is publicly owned it exists for everyone’s benefit, not for the benefit of shareholders.
Electricity should be regarded as an essential service, not a commodity for corporate gain. South Australians are paying the highest energy prices in Australia, so it is time to return ETSA to public ownership, and ensure affordable, sustainable power for everyone.
