It is where our families gather. Where our children learn from their Elders. Where our languages, stories and traditions are carried from one generation to the next.

For countless generations, Torres Strait Islanders have cared for our island homes and sea country. This responsibility has always been passed down through our families and communities, grounded in a deep connection to land, sea and sky.

Today, our island homes are on the frontlines of the climate crisis.

Driven by the continued expansion of coal, oil and gas, climate change is already reshaping our islands. Rising seas are eroding our coastlines, saltwater intrusion is contaminating freshwater sources, and culturally significant places, including ancestral burial grounds, are increasingly under threat. 

This is not a distant future. It is happening now.

But this campaign is about more than responding to climate change.

It’s about protecting home.
